Specification

The IPTC specifies for NewsML-G2:

A data model
A set of properties to hold general news content and packages thereof, structured information about concepts and means for exchanging editorial planning information plus a news message for transmissions purposes.
A technical implementation of the specifications into XML Schema

Latest Version 2.9

Version 2.9 (released November 2011) is the annual update and provides a couple of extensions and improvements.

Version 2.7 was an annual update.

Version 2.2 (released November 2008)

Version 2.2 was a minor update.

On 31 March 2009 the XML Schema files were updated to fix minor errors and version 2.2 specification documents were made available.
