IPTC Press Release
IPTC updates about its news exchange standards
at IfraExpo 2004

WINDSOR, England, 8 September 2004 -- Thousands of newspaper executives and technical managers will have a chance to hear about IPTC's latest work during IfraExpo 2004 in Amsterdam this October.

In a Monday afternoon floor session at IfraExpo 2004, IPTC will present a roundup of its XML-based standards and will announce that its standards for news photo metadata are to be supported by Adobe Photoshop CS and Adobe's XMP metadata framework. Members of IPTC will be available for questions after the session.

The week before IfraExpo 2004, the IPTC will hold its annual autumn meeting in Amsterdam. The agenda includes discussion of work toward developing NewsML 2 and a further work on IPTC's NewsCodes, the standard taxonomies for news metadata.

At IfraExpo 2004, members of IPTC working parties will talk about NITF, NewsML, NewsCodes and such specialized areas as sports agate and election results. The session runs from 14.00 to 16.00 on Monday 11 October 2004, and is open to all IfraExpo attendees and exhibitors.

"We had a successful information session at Nexpo 2004 in Washington, so it seems natural to bring news of IPTC's work to the premier newspaper technology forum in Europe", said Walter Baranger of The New York Times. "For many Ifra members, this is the easiest way to meet and talk to the people who make IPTC's widely known standards."
